To develop expertise in a practice area, secretaries are assigned to lawyers by practice group.
Secretaries are part of the Training to New Heights Program which is a long-term training program for legal secretaries and administrative staff to keep up-to-date on firm procedures, enhance technology skills, and improve communication skills in order to meet our client service goals.
Secretaries, paralegals and attorneys work together as a team with Human Resources available for advice and assistance.
Secretaries attend monthly staff meetings that enhance communication between managers and other staff members. Each staff meeting includes a training session with topics ranging from new court procedures to software training.
SPvG has a Secretarial Committee comprised of legal secretaries and administrative assistants who serve as liaisons to the Human Resources Department.
Staff members and the HR Department meet twice a year for lunch to discuss the firm's goals, strategy, and how this will affect the staff in their daily activities.
With SPvG's "Standards of Quality Program," secretaries are eligible for a performance bonus every year.
Staff members are invited to attend various social events including a Firm Picnic, a family day event and a Staff Appreciation Luncheon - all to say “Thank You” for the hard work.
