SPvG Benefit Package for Staff Members

SPvG provides the following benefit plans to full-time staff members. Additional information on the plans can be obtained from the Human Resources Department.

The following information is a summary of benefits for full-time staff members:

Health Insurance Benefits
A full-time staff member is eligible for group health insurance on the first day of the month following employment at the firm. The group's health insurance coverage is through Mercy Health Plan. The firm offers two plans. The Firm pays 90% of the premium for the employee's health insurance and 20% of dependant coverage. The remaining premium is paid by the employee through the firm's Cafeteria Plan.

Life Insurance Benefits
A full-time staff member receives a life insurance benefit of 2.5 times total compensation. The firm also offers voluntary supplemental life insurance as well as dependant life insurance through Standard Insurance Co.

Short-Term and Long-Term Disability
The Firm is self-insured for short-term disability benefits. Staff members are eligible for this short-term disability plan after six months of employment at the Firm. The number of days accumulated for short-term disability is based on a staff member's tenure.

The Firm offers voluntary long-term disability insurance through Reliance Standard Insurance Co. with a long-term disability benefit at 60% of compensation after 180 days of being disabled.

Dental Insurance Benefits
SPvG offers a voluntary dental insurance plan for firm members and their families. The dental insurance plan is through Essex Dental. The firm pays 50% of the premium for the employee.

SPvG Cafeteria Plan
Full-time staff members are eligible to participate in the Firm's Cafeteria Plan with the following three options:

Pre-Tax Premium
Pre-tax deferral of income for paying the portion of the medical insurance and dental insurance premiums not paid by the firm.

Qualified Medical Reimbursement Plan
Pre-tax deferral of income (limited to $10,000 per calendar year) for purposes of paying incurred medical expenses not covered under the family's medical insurance. The election form describes criteria for eligible reimbursements.

The Dependent Care Plan
An election to reduce your salary (limited to $5,000 per calendar year) to be applied for reimbursement to you for care given by providers in that same year in order for you to be eligible. The criteria for reimbursement are governed by the Internal Revenue Code and eligible reimbursements are not subject to federal, state and Social Security regulations.

Pension Plans
Profit-Sharing and 401(k) Plan
The Firm provides for a matching contribution on pre-tax contributions in an amount to be determined by Sandberg, Phoenix & von Gontard, P.C. on an annual basis.

The Firm will also make contributions in its discretion, which will be allocated among all eligible employees, whether or not they make contributions.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The Firm offers confidential counseling services at no cost to employees and their families through BJC Employee Assistance Program.

SPvG Additional Benefits

  • Discretionary Bonus Program.
  • Paid parking, MetroLink passes, or other transportation allowance.
  • Depending on the staff position, full-time members are eligible for vacation/sick time or paid time off.
  • Tuition Reimbursement.
  • Payment of one professional association dues.
