New Associate Program

Continuing legal education is key to your professional development

At many firms, the concept of continuing education consists of new associates spending hours with their noses buried in law books. At Sandberg, Phoenix & von Gontard, P.C., we believe in putting your knowledge to work. That's why we developed the New Associate Program. This innovative program provides extensive training and career planning, including:

  • Chaired by three shareholders and a senior associate, the firm's Associate Development Committee (ADC) helps you to assimilate with the firm by answering questions you will have as a new attorney.

  • Our "Shadowing Program" allows you to shadow a partner or senior level associate in court, depositions, and meetings.

  • The "SPvG College," a two-day educational symposium, covers the "nuts and bolts" of everyday practice as well as classes in the specialty areas of the firm.

  • After selecting two primary practice areas, you will be assigned a mentor who will provide you with additional training, advice and support in your remaining five years toward partnership.

  • Between your third and fifth years of practice, you will attend the National Institute of Trial Advocacy to help you fine-tune your courtroom skills.

Every attorney is important to our practice. If you are not interested in a partnership track, a position as a Staff Attorney may be the perfect fit for you.

No matter what practice area or career path you take, you'll find SPvG's legal education programs, professional seminars, and training by senior attorneys will play a prominent role in your professional development.
